Our 1000 pocket sprung mattresses prove popular amongst those who desire the exceptional comfort and unique support only provided by pocket spring units. Each spring is individually encapsulated providing your body with support in all the right areas.
Many people believe the lower the number of springs the softer the mattress, this is not always the case. Pocket springs come in different gauges, here at the Bed Factory we adjust this gauge along with some internal fillings to make a mattress firm or soft.
2000 count springs have a smaller diameter than those used in 1000 spring units, therefore offering a closer and more targeted support for your body and downward pressure exerted on the mattress.
2000 and 3000 pocket springs both offer a slightly more responsive feel due to the increase in springs used, however you still have a choice to alter the comfort rating to suit your preference.
The Mattress Surface
We have 3 options available for changing the surface of your new mattress:
- Hand Tufted Damask
The process of hand tufting involves, as the name suggests, one of our bed engineers actually fixing all the fillings in you mattress firmly by hand (most noticeable by the buttons on the surface) meaning the fillings stay in a perfect position for much longer. We also finish this mattress in a traditional Belgian damask fabric providing comfort and coolness.
- Micro Quilted
In a micro quilted mattress the surface material is still soft to the touch but without the benefit of having the fillings secured by the hand tufting process. Here the fillings are layered and stitched into place to give the mattress surface a slightly softer cushioned feel and can be improved further by adding memory foam or latex.
- Hand Tufted Soft Knit
As above, your mattress fillings can be secured by hand, combining this with a soft knit fabric providing extra warmth and a very comfortable feel.
Extra Layers of Comfort
As standard your mattress will come filled with the finest fillings by our bed makers. As an optional upgrade you can also add layers of luxury to your new mattress.
Popular amongst many of our customers, adding a soft later of memory foam can really improve the feel of mattress, memory foam moulds to your body providing that warm snug feel.
Latex is a natural material which has similar properties to memory foam. One of the main benefits of Latex is that it does not retain as much heat as memory foam, a common issue to those sensitive to heat in the summer.
Latex is also hypo-allergenic and provides more “bounce back” compared to memory foam therefore responds quickly if you move or change position whilst sleeping. Latex is a very desirable material to have in a mattress, in fact most top end mattresses use latex as a main filling for the comfort it provides in addition to it's natural benefits.
