Bed Frames – What to consider

Delivery of a Bed Frame

All the bed frames you will find on Bed Factory Direct are flat packed unless stated. A benefit of this is that we can deliver usually on a next day service across the whole UK. If you do not wish for the bed to be delivered the very next day you can choose a specific day for delivery at the checkout.

Generally smaller beds will be delivered to the front door, larger bed frames with bigger boxes will arrive on a two-man service and the delivery team will take the boxes to the desired bedroom of your choosing.

Be sure to check our bed frame sale, here we have a selection of beds that could be discontinued, overstock or cancelled orders. As we have limited room in the factory we reduce the prices further here to move this stock on.

We also deliver to the Isle of Man and Highland areas, a delivery contribution is normally required for delivery to these parts which will be applied at checkout.

Sprung/Flat Slats and Mesh Bases

All bed frames on our website come with one of the three types of support for your mattress, sprung slats, flat slats or a mesh base.

Sprung and flat slats are lengths of wood your mattress will sit on when your bed is assembled. Sprung slats have a curve in the shape as opposed to the flat slats although there is not a great deal of difference between the pair. Sprung slats may make your mattress feels slightly softer than a flat slatted base as the curve acts like suspension when you lay on your mattress compared to the flat type which remains rigid. Both these type of bases are suitable for any mattress you can find and are common amongst bed frames.

Some bed frames such as the Jordan have a mesh base. This wooden bed has a metal cage support instead of beech slats, this makes the frame extremely durable and is recommended if you are looking for extra robustness. As these bases have no moving parts they can have an extended lifetime and are preferred by landlords and hotels in particular.
